Structural FireThe Fire Finder Operates Through Glass

The alarm goes off for a structural fire, you’ve raced to the building to make it there in record time only to find a possible false alarm situation. Do you go in? It would be great if you could use your thermal camera or infrared thermometer to scan through a window or glass door to check the interior temperature unfortunately these devices do not operate through glass.

The Fire Finder Model 955 Thermal Scanner operates through most types of glass allowing first responders to quickly assess the interior conditions through a window or door.

Thermal cameras are great for taking surface temperature measurements, but what happens when a hot spot is obscured behind a wall, particularly when that wall is at an elevated temperature as is often the case? The problem is the heat of the wall often obscures hot spots because thermal cameras do not have sufficient contrast sensitivity (i.e. white out!).
